As somebody who’s been itching to see this film for what feels like an extremely long year now, this news is the best thing I’ve heard so far today, and will most likely remain as such by the time midnight rolls in. There’d been rumblings about a possible September 25 release date for Paranormal Activity over the last two weeks, but today, thanks to Anne Thompson, it seems official. Paranormal Activity is an independent Blair Witch-style horror film, relocating the witch-in-the-woods motif to poltergeists-in-suburbia. Writer/director Oren Peli‘s debut feature has been tearing up the film festival circuit for the last year, receiving nothing but compliments and some of the most hyperbolic feedback imaginable—–Bloody Disgusting, a well-respected horror site, had this to say recently: “I can promise you this, seen in a theater, Paranormal Activity is one of the scariest movies of all-time.”
After words such as those, there’s only way for the film to go in some eyes (mine included), and that’s let-down. Regardless of whether it ends up being the scariest film ever or not, though, I’m still excited as hell to see the damn thing. And I was beginning to worry that I’d never get to, or at least have to wait until the talked-about remake (*cringe*) was made and spewed out. So, please believe, I’ll be there ready to rock on September 25. This is great news.
After the jump, the trailer for Paranormal Activity:
I saw this movie last night at a NYC screening & it scared the living daylights out of me. It was soo good. Hope you got to see. I’ve never screamed in a movie theater until this movie.
wow this movie was crazy but the craziest part of them all was when she was dragged out of the bed and the door closed by itself that is crazy
