The younger Lynch directed a film back in the mid-90s, Boxing Helena, but I’ve yet to see that and most word on it is negative. Word on Surveillance, however, has been strong. For good reason. Surveillance does have its mishaps in pacing and minor predictability in the final act, but overall the film is a real winner, sick and intense to maximum degrees. Julia Ormond has never been sexier (just wait until you see her and another female character’s at-gun-point flirtation), and the major setpiece involving a siege on broken-down cars stranded on a deserted highway is a real white-knuckle punch to the gut.
Just take a look at its antagonist:
Wait until you see what the actress playing this beast looks like, though. You may go from “Damn, that’s hideous!” to “You know what? I’d still do her.”
Plot synopsis and trailer for Hisss after the jump:
Here’s the lady playing this maneating snake-woman: phenomenally hot Indian star Mallika Sherawat
Admit it……you’d totally do the snake-woman now. No shame in the game. Shit, I would.
Hisss is based on an Eastern legend about a snake-woman who can take on the human form of an actual woman, Nagin (Mallika Sherawat, nice choice) in order to swallow horny men whole. As of now, there’s no word on when we’ll be able to see the film, unfortunately. I’m guessing that it’ll circulate throughout the various film festivals this year before hitting DVD shelves in early 2010, a la Vinyan and Martyrs last month. I’ll be keeping a close watch on any news, of course. A trailer as eye-opening as this one for Hisss demands full attention.
And, to help spread the word on Lynch’s Surveillance too, here’s the trailer for that one:
