Get ready to jump for joy like this……
This isn’t “hard news” in the least, just a tidbit that should send excitable shivers down the backs of Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy followers, a group which I fall into (of course). Over at /Film, they’ve reported something that Will Ferrell said in passing at a press junket for Land of the Lost. In a nutshell, Ferrell basically divulged that the original Anchorman cast, including Paul Rudd, Steve Carell, and director/co-writer Adam McKay, will be assembling soon to discuss the pending sequel.
“Will Ferrell is making the rounds doing publicity for Land of the Lost and was asked for an update while appearing on an Australian Jono & Dano. According to Moviehole, Ferrell told the hosts that “everyone is next week” to discuss a possible sequel. Ferrell went on to joke that the meeting is really to see whether or not Paul Rudd and Steve Carell are willing to take pay cuts, as he wouldn’t be.”
That’s it. Just something uttered in passing, but exciting nonetheless. Prior to this, my thoughts on Anchorman 2 bordered on “It’ll never happen, especially now that Paul Rudd and Steve Carell are arguably as big as Ferrell now, thus leading to insanely-tough scheduling conflicts.” Seems that I was mistaken, though. Ferrell and company appear ready (in theory) to give the fans what they’re clamoring for, and that’s something to applaud.
